Inspiring the Next Generation of Changemakers

At Ballinger, we make places for people who make the future—healers and learners, makers and innovators. Our work is driven by their impact, and this week, we’re especially focused on inspiring the next generation of creators and changemakers.
April 13-19th, Architecture Week is celebrated to inspire the next generation of architects and designers. This year, the goal is to reach over 15,000 K-12 students through the outreach and activities of at least 60 AIA chapters, 120 firms, 350 AIA members, educators, parents, and community members.
AIA Philadelphia, in partnership with DesignPhiladelphia’s Design Education Program, is bringing architecture straight to the classroom. Through field trips, career pathway discussions, and hands-on activities, students will engage with real architects, explore what a career in design looks like, and discover how their creativity can shape the world around them. These initiatives reflect our commitment to supporting students in and out of the classroom:
- Judging the Technology Student Association’s NJ State Architectural Design Competition
- Hosting SPARK Career Days with the Philadelphia Education Fund
- Volunteering at Children’s Village, a nationally accredited early childhood education center
- Volunteering with Future City, a hands-on educational program that brings STEM to life for middle school students and sponsoring the Net Zero Carbon Design Award
- Partnering with AIA Philadelphia and DesignPhiladelphia over the years to bring design education into schools
- Supporting a more inclusive future through our Scholarship for Equity—an initiative providing mentorship and resources to high school and college students from underrepresented backgrounds in architecture, engineering, and interior design
