Inova Health Center – Oakville, designed by Ballinger and Ennead, was selected for a 2025 Healthcare Design Award by the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). The awards program recognizes design firms for creativity and innovation in the design of healthcare facilities across ambulatory, extended care and assisted living, and hospitals settings.
IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO, Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA highlighted the significance of the award-winning projects, “In a moment of time where healthcare remains at the forefront of our lives, these projects showcase the power that design has in shaping how humans experience comfort and care. We are proud to honor these teams and projects, which reflect some of the very best of our industry and speak to the power design has to affect our health and wellbeing.”
Inova Health Center – Oakville, located in Alexandria, Virginia, is characterized by a sculptural, humanistic design. With organic lines, warm wood tones, and layered neutrals, it translates Inova’s identity into a welcoming, high-performance interior environment. It is the first building of a 1,500,000 SF multi-campus initiative to enhance Inova’s patient experience, operational efficiency, and brand cohesion.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by IIDA for a project that reflects true collaboration. This award is a testament to Inova’s bold vision and the collective effort of a team committed to creating environments that advance health and well-being.”
The IIDA Healthcare Design Awards program, now in its 14th year, is judged by a jury of design professionals based on aesthetics, design, creativity, and function. Winners will be recognized at a celebration at IIDA Headquarters in Chicago on November 13, 2025 and published in Healthcare Design magazine and on IIDA.org.
